Corduroy roads were a type of primitive road construction technique used in swampy or marshy areas where traditional road construction was difficult or impossible due to the challenging terrain. They consisted of logs laid side by side across the wet ground, forming a raised platform that allowed passage over the soft and unstable terrain.
