Collection: Texan War of Independence
The Texas War of Independence or Texas Revolution (1835-1836) was a conflict between the Republic of Texas and Mexico. The war was sparked by a series of grievances over Mexican policies that restricted the rights of Anglo-American settlers in Texas.
The two main armies involved were the Texan Army, composed primarily of Anglo-American settlers and volunteers, and the Mexican Army, led by General Antonio López de Santa Anna.
Without forgetting the famous Battle of the Alamo, the war culminated in the decisive Battle of San Jacinto in April 1836, where the Texans, led by Sam Houston, defeated the Mexican army and secured Texas' independence.
