Mirko Bruner has delivered this incredible formation of Union Infantry soldiers: the 39th New York Infantry Garibaldi Guard.
The regiment, was a unique unit that served the Union Army during the American Civil War. Composed of a diverse group of men from various nationalities, including Italians, Germans, and Irish, Swiss, Hungarian, Portugese and Spanish the regiment was inspired by the ideals of Italian patriot Giuseppe Garibaldi.
Despite being a "ragtag ensemble," the Garibaldi Guard distinguished itself in battle, particularly at the Second Battle of Bull Run and the Battle of Chancellorsville.
Their bravery and sacrifice contributed to the Union's ultimate victory in the Civil War.
