Saint-Chamond Tank Early - 1917
Model by Franco Fusco
The Saint-Chamond originated in 1916 from the rivalry between Schneider—which had developed the CA1, France's first tank—and FAMH.
Both tanks were armed with a 75mm gun, but FAMH decided to mount a long-barrelled 75mm field gun at the front, granting it devastating firepower, superior to that of any contemporary tank.
The Saint-Chamond saw its first combat action on May 5, 1917, during the attack on Moulin de Laffaux, involving 16 tanks of the initial (flat-roofed) variant; while the tank's armament proved devastatingly effective, 15 of the vehicles were immobilised by the rough terrain—scarred by artillery craters—or by the width of the trenches.
The 165 tanks of the flat-roofed version were armed with the 75mm Saint-Chamond L12CTR gun and four 8mm Hotchkiss Mle 1914 machine guns and was manned by a nine-man crew.
The Bundle will allow you to have on your table the early version of the Saint-Chamond tank in 28mm scale, in a four tones camouflage.
NOTES:
The bundle consists of five sheets for the model to be printed on 100 g/sm and 160 g/sm (suggested) paper, and nine sheets for the instructions.
Once downloaded, the sheets can be printed as often as you like, which means you can build any number of Saint-Chamond Landships very cheaply.
You will need scissors, a craft knife, a metal ruler, glue, 100 g/sm and 160 g/sm (recommended weight) paper, cereal box type card, light card and cocktail sticks. You will also need acrylic paint pens of various colours (sepia, grey, etc…) to touch up the parts, all of which are described in the included how-to section.
The sheets are laid down in A4 format. Print your sheets at “fit to page” setting (Adobe Acrobat) onto A4 paper and US legal sized paper, on US letter size will print at 93%.
You can, of course, print the Saint-Chamond tank in any scale you choose, making it extremely flexible in this respect. Enjoy.
