Collection: Republican Romans
The Punic Wars were a series of three conflicts between Rome and Carthage, two powerful city-states in the ancient Mediterranean world.
The first Punic War (264-241 BCE) was primarily a naval conflict, as both Rome and Carthage sought to control the Mediterranean Sea. The second Punic War (218-201 BCE) was a more land-based conflict, with Hannibal Barca, a brilliant Carthaginian general, leading his army across the Alps to invade Italy. The third Punic War (149-146 BCE) was a brutal and decisive conflict that resulted in the destruction of Carthage and the establishment of Roman dominance in the Mediterranean region.
Here presented is the Army of Rome that fought in that tumultuous period.
