History
The Roman Republican Army, a formidable force that dominated the Mediterranean world for centuries, played a pivotal role in the Punic Wars against Carthage. Led by renowned commanders such as Scipio Africanus and Publius Cornelius Scipio Nasica, the Roman army was organized into three main battle lines: the Hastati, the Princeps, and the Triarii.
The Hastati, composed of young and inexperienced soldiers, formed the front line, while the Princeps, more experienced veterans, occupied the center. The Triarii, the most seasoned troops, served as a reserve, only entering the battle if the front lines faltered.
Supporting the main battle lines were the Velites, light infantry skirmishers who engaged in harassing tactics and prepared the battlefield for the main clash.
The Roman cavalry, a crucial component of the army, was used for reconnaissance, flanking maneuvers, and pursuit. In addition to their own forces, the Romans relied on the support of their allies, such as the Latin League and various Italian tribes, who provided additional troops and resources.
The Bundle
Once downloaded, the sheets can be printed as often as you like, which means you can build up Large Roman Armies very cheaply.
You will need scissors, a craft knife, glue, appropriate paper and some stiffer card for bases, all of which are described in the how-to section.
The figures are laid out in A4 format, which will print onto US legal sized paper, or will fit US letter size printed at 93%.
You can, of course, print the figures in any scale you choose, making them uniquely flexible in this respect.
